In 2002, under the leadership of Chairman Stan DeGroot, CCE, NACM began serious consideration of a construction-focused division. In 2006 the National Board's Products and Services Work Group led by Phyllis Truitt, CCE confirmed the existence of a large number of construction-oriented members seeking a national lien service alternative. In early 2007 the Board, under the leadership of Mark Tuniewicz, CCE, approved the formation of NACM's Mechanic's Lien & Bond Services. This new business will focus on providing products and services to meet the needs of construction-oriented credit professionals across the country.

Currently NACM's MLBS offers two NTO services, a lien and bond claim filing program and a suit against bond and foreclosure service. Both NTO Services include, at no additional charge, a Next Action Notification Email. These reminders are sent automatically to ensure that your lien and suit deadlines are met during each step of the lien process.

In November MLBS will re-release the web based version of the MLBS Lien Navigator, the credit professional's guide to notice, lien, payment bond and suit time requirements. The enhanced Navigator will include NTO template previews and seamless links to NACM’s construction orientated Business Credit archives.

For more information about MLBS please contact Gregory Powelson, Director, MLBS. Greg can be reached at gregp@nacm.org or by calling 216-212-6020.
