NACM's Mechanic's Lien and Bond Services Takes to the Road
Celebrating its one-year anniversary, NACM's Mechanic's Lien and Bond Services recently began offering onsite training for its customers and prospects.
If you have ever attended an MLBS workshop presented by Greg Powelson, you'll know it's more than just an event packed full with rock-solid information about how you can successfully serve a notice or file a lien or bond claim.
It also promotes this message: you can make a significant difference in reducing DSO.
Greg used personal stories and hard statistics to create a powerful message. The workshop began with a bit of history of when and why the lien laws were created. "The lien filing process was created as an enabler," said Powelson, setting the tone for the rest of the session. From there, Powelson detailed the chronology of a typical construction project. "In 35 of the 50 states, the lien filing process is a three-pronged attack: notice, lien, foreclosure. Each step is a prerequisite to taking the next step and each state has its own set of rules and tools."

In his session, Greg addressed the construction lien process from a national perspective. From collecting job information through foreclosure, participants should be prepared for a fast-paced view of building the optimal construction credit department.
"Effective construction credit management requires a no-nonsense toughness and structured organizational consistency," said Powelson. The use of personal experiences from his 19 years of working with credit professionals were relevant and to the point. In short, the message is not only designed to inform but also to inspire.
MLBS offers the Lien Navigator and prepares, serves and files notices, liens and bond claims for all 50 states. If you'd like to discuss a workshop for your company, please call MLBS at 216-212-6020.
