Section 511 of the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act imposes a 3 percent withholding tax on the value of most contracts for goods and services between businesses and federal and state governments as well as local political subdivisions with contracting expenditures of $100 million or more. This new taxing mechanism will impose a severe financial strain on all businesses that rely on government business. Please support our effort to have this 3 percent withholding tax repealed by sending an e-mail to your state's two U.S. Senators, asking them to support S.2821, entitled the Withholding Tax Relief Act of 2006. The enactment of S.2821 would repeal this 3 percent withholding tax. Also, because this effort may extend into the next legislative session, please register below so we can contact you as progress is made or additional help is needed. Section 511 of the current law is scheduled to take effect on December 31, 2010; however, it's important to begin the process to eliminate it as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
